DRYWALL INSTALLATION

Drywall is now the most common wall covering in North America. It provides protection from fire, insulation from noise and is a great and economical surface for painting or wall papering. Installing drywall involves cutting the drywall panels to size, attaching the panels to framing members with mechanical fasteners and finishing the drywall.

DRYWALL FINISHING & TEXTURE

Drywall Finishing, also known as mudding or taping, involves the mixing of drywall compound with water. Once mixed, the compound or "mud" is applied to the unfinished drywall with trowels and knives. Paper, metal and plastic bead and trims are applied to corners and edges and paper tape is embedded into the joints. Mud is applied over top and sanded smooth when dry. This process is repeated until the surface is smooth and ready to accept a finish such as paint. It takes a lot of experience to perform this correctly and efficiently. If these tasks are not done correctly, no amount of paint can make the wall look smooth, and worse, possibly lead to cracked joints and screw or nail "pops" in the future.

Drywall walls and ceilings are common in many buildings. We also have trained professionals that are well versed in specialty products, such as: FRP (fibreglass reinforced plastic panels), acoustical ceilings (t-bar and tile), paraline systems, and even demountable wall systems such as PS350 framing systems and vinylboard.

Drywall, which is also known as plasterboard, gypsum board, gyprock or sheetrock is a panel consisting of gypsum plaster pressed between two thick sheets of paper.

It is used in the construction of interior walls and ceilings as a replacement for the traditional lath and plaster method.

There are several types of gypsum wallboard for both interior and exterior applications, including moisture resistant, mold resistant, and fire resistant (Type X) panels.

There are also specialized applications, such as concrete board (tile backer), acoustical panels (sound proof) and lead lined walls, commonly used around radiological equipment.
